Building a Relationship with God
Do you believe in God, but wish you had a better relationship with Him? It’s not until a tragedy occurs that many people try to “find” God. It is then that they begin to pray, go to church, or try to read their Bible, perhaps for the first time.
Do you believe in God, but have questions that you want answered? Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? Who is Jesus, really? Can I know for sure that I will go to heaven when I die? How?
If you’re like most people, you don’t want to be “religious” or a “goody-goody,” or a hypocrite. These people are everywhere, especially in religion. It seems that almost everywhere you look, you see people who are supposed to be religious asking for your money. Moral corruption, scandal and abuse are what a majority of people see when they look at “religion!” I wanted to find God, but didn’t know where to look or how to go about it. I tried to read the Bible, and started in Genesis, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Then this guy begat this guy who begat this guy and so on!” That didn’t help! I didn’t get it. It wasn’t until someone helped me open my own Bible and read it for myself that my relationship with God began to take place!
Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). My own Bible actually had all the answers, but I never knew how to unlock the simplicity of the Word of God for myself! All you do is read the Bible passage, read the question on the lesson outline, and go back to the Bible passage to get the answer for yourself. You’ll come to your own conclusions, and get enough information so you can make an intelligent decision about your own relationship with God!
